This place is by far the best Italian in Montclair
My husband and I had dinner at Acappello on Sunday, November 20th.
We were pleased with the high quality of the food and the service.
As soon as we were seated, a server offered us amuse-bouches of grilled zucchini and bruschetta. As appetizers, we tried the incomparable Shrimp Acappello and the hearty Portobello. We also shared an Arugula Salad (which is served with beets and goat cheese).
Our entrees were the Grilled Veal Chop and the Grilled Salmon. The salmon came stuffed with vegetables and was served on a bed of pureed potato and asparagus. I especially enjoyed all of its textures: the fish, the chopped zucchini, red pepper and Portobello mushroom and the purees. Excellent! My husband was extremely happy with his Veal Chop.
The only disappointment was the dessert. We really wanted to try the house tiramisu, but there wasn’t any that evening. We opted for the Strawberry Zabaglione. It was really good for custard (but when you really want tiramisu, it just doesn’t compare).
In sum: excellent food, great service, good parking (2 lots just up the block on Seymour). What more can you ask for?
One thing you may want to check before you arrive: the Wellmont Theater schedule. You do not want to try parking on the Wellmont side of Bloomfield when there’s a show on.
Went to Aceppello tonight and had an amazing meal! Started with the shrimp with gorgonzala cheese. Delicious. Had the stuffed salmon which was simply amazing. The chocolate mouse cake another winner. Service was friendly and very prompt. Beautiful restaurant, classy and elegant ,yet warm and inviting.
Another winner on Bloomfield Ave! Owners are friendly and very attentive..a pleasure to speak with.
